Clomiphene citrate, sold as Clomid or Serophene, is often the first line of treatment for women who are not ovulating normally. Clomid is an oral tablet that is usually taken for five consecutive days during the early part your menstrual cycle. The treatment duration is typically three to six cycles.
How it Works
Clomid blocks a woman’s estrogen receptors, causing your body to believe estrogen levels are low. This stimulates the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and leutinizing hormone (LH)—the hormones needed to induce ovulation.
